The work of the Legal Execution Department originally came from two division-level government agencies in the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Justice: the Civil Execution Division and the Bankruptcy Execution Division.    The government therefore issued an Act amending the Announcement of the Revolutionary Council, No. 216, dated September 29, 1972 (No. 5), B.E. 2517, raising the status of the Civil Execution Division and the Bankruptcy Execution Division. Combined, it was established as the Legal Execution Department under the Ministry of Justice. Then enacted the Act on the Transfer of Partial Administrative Affairs of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, B.E. 2517, transferring all powers and duties regarding the Civil Enforcement Division and the Bankruptcy Enforcement Division. Including the transfer of all businesses, assets, debts, civil servants, employees, and the budget of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice. Only the parts related to the Civil Execution Division and the Bankruptcy Execution Division were transferred to the Legal Execution Department, and in addition, a new agency was established, namely Central Estate and Arbitration Office to decide on the Disputes regarding the placement of assets in the region occur in a total of 9 regions. The Legal Execution Department has the authority and duty to enforce civil cases and bankruptcy cases. as well as placing assets throughout the country It has since started operating as the Legal Execution Department.
